As the Israel-Gaza conflict continues to escalate, with reports of tanks and heavy gunfire in areas where Hamas is based, the need for a ceasefire becomes increasingly urgent. Hostage negotiator Gershon Baskin emphasized the risk to the lives of the 134 hostages still being held by Hamas, with casualties mounting on both sides.
Baskin acknowledged the challenges of negotiating with terrorist organizations like Hamas but stressed the necessity of finding a way to agree on the deal currently on the table. The proposed deal includes a 45-day ceasefire and the release of hostages, as well as Palestinian prisoners by Israel. While not an easy agreement, Baskin believes it offers a potential path towards ending the conflict.
Baskin says 134 Israelis are still being held by Hamas and the October 7th attacks were the worst failure in Israel’s history, and Benjamin Netanyahu was responsible for that failure.
