Tobias Ellwood MP, former chairman of the Defence Select Committee, says Israel’s invasion of Palestine has “clearly been a messy, clumsy invasion without an obvious objective.”
He also said Israel’s invasion of Palestine has allowed Hamas to develop recruitment, “so many normal Gazans have said ‘I’m fed up with this'”.
It comes as a Hamas official told Reuters on Monday that no progress had been made at a new round of ceasefire talks in Cairo also attended by delegations from Qatar, the United States and Israel.
David Bull and Nicola Thorp were also joined by hostage negotiator Gershon Baskin, who said the end of Ramadan might be a good time for there to be a ceasefire to cool off.
