Gershon Baskin enlisted Amos Schocken, the editor of Haaretz, to publish the Hebrew translation of The Yacoubian Building, by New York Times columnist Alaa al-Aswany, who threatened to give any royalties from the book’s Hebrew translation to Hamas.
