Gershon Baskin and Hanna Siniora, co directors of the a href=”” target=”_blank”>Israel Palestine Center for Research and Information – IPCRI, will share their insights regarding the situation in the Middle East.

Edith and Arthur P. Stern will be hosting Gershon and Hanna in their home, Arthur P. Stern a Hungarian-born Holocaust survivor who was imprisoned in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, led the development of General Electric’s first transistor radio in the 1950s and guided the commercialization of satellite navigation at Magnavox in the 1970s. He is a national leader in the progressive Jewish community, serving as director and regional co-chairman of Americans for Peace Now, the national board of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, the board of directors of the Southern California Region of the Progressive Jewish Alliance, the Southern California Americans for Democratic Action, and the chairman of the California Humanitarian Foundation of Holocaust Survivors.

With eleven months of the Bush administration left, the questions remain
1-Will the promise of two states for two peoples be kept?
2-Is an Israeli-Palestinian permanent peace agreement feasible in one year?
3-What are the issues, the obstacles, and the opportunities ahead?

Baskin and Siniora say that it is possible. They will talk about what needs to be done and how. They will also present the work of IPCRI and on the contribution and achievements of civil society Track II efforts towards peace making.
