J Street UMICH will be bringing Gershon Baskin to campus to discuss the current peace talks. In particular, he will talk about:

The major parties (America, the Palestinian Authority and Israel)
Major personalities (Bibi Netanyahu, Mahmoud Abbas, Barack Obama)
The role that Hamas has in the peace process
The history of past peace negotiations (what went wrong, what we can learn from them, the way that they impact the current peace process)

Bio of Gershon Baskin:

+He is the CEO and founder of the Israel/Palestine Center for Research and Information, a joint Palestinian and Israeli think tank (http://www.ipcri.org/…­)
+He has served as an adviser on the peace process to Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin
+He was a member of the Jerusalem Experts team
+He is a columnist in the Jerusalem Post
+He has a radio show on All for Peace Radio in Israel
+He is a lecturer for the IDF Officer Corps, and created programs where future officers go to Palestinian villages
