The relationship between Israel and Palestine has been marked by moments of calm and unfortunate periods of gruesome violence. Considerably, one of the world’s most disputed borders, the region continues to endure increased tensions, which have recently resulted in a wave of attacks and casualties for both nations. The question remains, can this embattled region find reconciliation? And what are the broader positions and implications within the wider Middle East?

Gershon Baskin is the Co-Chairman of Israel/Palestine Center for Research and Information’s (IPCRI) Board of Directors. Previously, Dr. Baskin was the Executive Director of the Institute for Education for Jewish-Arab Coexistence. He has a regular column in the Jerusalem Post and has won multiple Journalism award including, ‘Histadrut Prize for Peace’ and the ‘Journalist Award for Middle East Journalism’ from the Search for Common Ground. His memoir The Negotiator: Freeing Gilad Schalit from Hamas was published in 2013.
