Is Peace Possible? Gershon Baskin on Israel-Palestine

J Street U at Wesleyan and Wes for Peace are excited to host Gershon Baskin at Wesleyan this Tuesday, November 11th at 8 pm. Dr. Baskin will be sharing his analysis of the Kerry Initiative’s failure, this past summer’s violence in the region, and his vision for peace going forward. Q & A and dessert reception to follow.

Gershon Baskin is an Israeli-American peace activist who has dedicated his career to the pursuit of a dignified two-state solution between Israel and Palestine that will bring justice and stability to the region. Dr. Baskin was one of the back-channel negotiators between Israel and Hamas who secured Gilad Schalit’s release from captivity in 2011 after he was abducted in the Gaza Strip five years earlier. Previously, Dr. Baskin served as an advisor on the peace process to Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin’s government.

This lecture is sponsored by the Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life, Government Department, College of Social Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, Center for Jewish and Israel Studies, Muslim Students Association and the Wesleyan Jewish Community.
