What appears to be escalation of Palestinian violence cannot be separated from what appears to be an escalation of Israeli violence against Palestinians during the same time period.
That determination arises out of their sincerity and their absolute refusal to allow contemporary and historic realities to dictate their character and conduct as peacemakers. That very character makes this book particularly valuable.

Baskin’s detailed narrative and insights into the leaders of both Israel and Hamas are important to understand the broader issues.
I believe that more progress has already been achieved in the negotiations than most people here, on both sides, would have expected.
In order for peace to provide security, security must provide peace, and the people on both sides of the border must be partners in this process.
